The rest of the pad is made up of 2x4, plywood and metal that was bent around pieces of wood with a rubber mallet. I got the designs from Riptide, His videos are now on youtube. Search for "Riptide's DDR Pad".

Not everyone fails at building dancepads. Luckily i took some development shots. Check your inbox.
The pad has a PS2 controller inside, resoldered to nails that stick up. The pad is then held up by reasonably strong foam that keeps it floating above the nails. When you step down, the nails make a connection with a ground piece that is soldered back to the ground on the PS2 controller. The corner pieces then keep the button in place.

They are PSD files someone made with editable background colours. They probably aren't available on the internet anymore, but I can upload a copy for you somewhere if you'd like =)
