Oprah's whirl-wind tour of Australia included a quick visit to Melbourne and here is a video I took of her at Federation Square on Friday 10th December at about 4pm.
Also there was Singer Jessica Mauboy and Human Nature. Hosted by 7pm Project's Carrie Bickmore. Special guests- Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu (whom I sat next to at the Quantum of Solice premiere at Doncaster Village Cinemas- fun fact)

  • who the fuck cares if oprah is here. its fuckin embarrassing that our prime minister is there to meet her

  • Seeing our prime minister there makes me feel embarresed to be an Aussie. It makes us look like we're desperate low-lifes to the extent that we even call the head of government to attend some celebrity's welcoming. She doesn't even turn up to an important AUSTRALIAN event. Some prime minister.

Hey, off-topic I know, but... did Young have many cherries that didn't suffer splitting as a result of the storms?

(Cherries in the supermarkets here in Canberra, but didn't notice whether they were from Young or not... : /

  • @tenderheart17 Fair point

No doubt plenty of people in Canowindra watch her too (which is where I'm originally from). But I object to cashed-up big name celebs swanning in and out of our country at tax-payers expense, in the guise of promoting tourism, sport, or whatever.

  • @3bertface01 She has to speak for Christ's sakes, should she take lessons in the American accent? Ones voice, like many physical features, is not selected. You use what you have. Steve Irwin and his constant ockerisms were a bit exaggerated too.

Who cares what the Americans think of our Prime Minister's accent? You and some giggling schoolgirls.

  • @richardnixon17 We've always had 'celebrity politicians', we just haven't had the phrase. Your namesake, Richard Nixon, for example, was highly celebrated at the Republican National Convention, a couple of years before he was rightly maligned and despised.

Thousands of gawkers screaming "Four more years!' If they had done what you reccomend, the WORLD would have been better off.

You snivel snide remarks about Oprah, but if Chillbilly Palin hit town you'd be screaming with the best of them.

  • @tenderheart17 'Real Australia'? What makes a rural floodplain more 'real' than Federation square? They're both physical locations, they are both in Australia...big deal, so Oprah came. She's an entertainer. She was here to make some cash, enjoy herself, and get screamed at by star-struck Australians.

And if she DID visit rural NSW, folks would be kissing her arse. Only there'd be fewer people per metre of arse. I live in Young which was flooded recently. Lots of people here watch Oprah.

  • @blaze3927 As opposed to an infinite price? Of course they have a finite price, price is a quantity that cannot be anything except finite.

  • @Mad1093 It was good to see Julia involving herself in oprahs tour that will generate millions and millions of dollars to the tourism industry you halfwit, I would say that she was doing her job

  • @Mad1093

It was also good to see Julia Gillard showcasing Australia's sense of openness in having a female PM who actually has a sense of humour.

    Unlike you.
