Classic Game Room HD reviews GUITAR HERO VAN HALEN for Xbox 360, also on Playstation 3 PS3, Nintendo Wii and the venerable PS2. Play with the band or just guitar and bass, Guitar Hero Van Halen may not be the best Guitar Hero as of late but it still packs about 2 dozen early Van Halen tracks and numerous other songs. Play as Van Halen with short hair and a new bass player (Wolfgang!) or rock out in spandex with David Lee Roth, Alex and Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen! Yes, I'm missing Sammy Hagar and Michael Anothony, as well as the chance to relive the 80's as Van Halen, but the game is playable and fun. It lacks the polish of Guitar Hero Metallica and the storyline of Guitar Hero Aerosmith, and in many ways falls flat where it could have really exploded off the screen with 80's MTV awesomeness. It's no surprise that the game was available as a freebie with Guitar Hero 5 but that doesn't mean it's a bad game, it just comes off as sub par compared to the other excellent Guitar Hero releases. This CGR review of Guitar Hero Van Halen has gameplay from Guitar Hero Van Halen on Xbox 360 showing game play and songs in action.

  • @0612jenna i agree, although more of the david lee roth stuff is better for guitar and was pretty fuckin popular. You gotta give hagar-era some credit for awesome songs like: Dreams, Can't Stop Lovin' You, When it's Love, Love Walks In, Why Can't This Be Love, Right Now... pretty awesome, although most of them had more keyboard

  • nice try lol

  • @thebryghtidea Winning a gold medal at the Special Olympics is like winning a gold medal at the Special Olympics. Being good at Guitar Hero is like being good Guitar Hero, truth.

  • @oween5 I agree with that...I like how Rock Band did Green Day and The Beatles games. In them the songs and story line go by the timeline and the looks and stages change for the different timelines and you unlock interviews and pictures and live videos and cool shit like that but the downfall is Rock Band's characters look cartoon-ish.

  • It bothers me that their band games show only the most recent members and looks of the band.

GH:Aerosmith had an older aged more recent band and now van halen has them older with short hair and the different members... Why can't it be like the women singers in other gh's where the singer would switch out depending if it was a sammy hagar or david lee roth song... and you should be able to switch between bassists and the time period look of each band member...

  • I am not a big fan of the Van Hagar period but agree there was some good songs. You forgot to mention "Space Truckin" is on here by Deep Purple one of Van Halens biggest influences.

  • dude thats very easy song on GH and uve killed it....

  • join the guitar hero alliance on fb to bring the rock back

  • Dude it isn't technically the Van Halen we want anymore, no Michael Anthony, it is not VAN HALEN. M.A. was good at his job and went unnoticed to a degree and deserves more credit, he is the highest pitch in the background vocals and he is an underrated bass player IMO!
