Disassembling an acer travelmate 4060 to replace the broken power jack, then reassemble. This laptop would not light up or turn on, no power at all. This is a fairly common problem on laptops, and most are similar to disassemble and replace.

  • Hey, thanks so much for the vid. I have just spent the morning replacing my power jack. (travelmate 4060) Now the screen doesn't light up. I can see windows starting, but it's really dark. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Dan

  • @hotlicksdan Sounds like the backlight inverter cable is not plugged in. There are to cables for the screen. 1 flat ribbon for the video signal and one smaller cable to power the backlight inverter. heck that cable.

  • Are the Ac power jacks on net books this difficult to take apart im good as far as soldering goes been doing that for years but ive only done simple stuff like added ram and changed out hard drives, but i been asked to change out the power jack on a net book. any advice or tips????

  • @leonv62 It really varies on the model, some are really easy and some are really difficult. What is the model?

  • didn't show the soldering or the desoldering...... was a waste...

  • @icpfans check my other vids, I have a video specifically showing how to desolder and solder a power jack.

  • Y'know, I don't need a video to tell me how to disassemble a laptop, any chump can do that. I was hoping on how to SOLDER the damn thing to the board without burning it, only to see you skipped the most vital part. Great.

  • Decent video but my eyes are hurting from trying to focus on all the blurry parts!
