Skyrim - Easy Ebony Blade Upgrade with Dead Thrall

This video shows how to easily upgrade the Daedric Artifact the Ebony Blade, obtained by completing the Daedric quest The Whispering Door. Normally, to upgrade the Ebony Blade you must kill a total of ten (10) individual NPC's that you have completed quests or misc. objectives for, earning their trust. Rather than eliminate ten different NPC's, by using the Conjuration spell Dead Thrall, you can select one single NPC, kill them, dead thrall them, and kill them again. After 10 kills, you fully upgrade the Ebony Blade with only losing one NPC.

If you are uncertain about a NPC and what uses they might have, a great place to look is the UESPWiki. Type in the name of the NPC in question in the search box to see what quests they are used for:

*** PC Players
You can verify if the NPC will grant you an upgrade by using the following console command: getrelationshiprank
They will work with values of "lover", "friend", "ally", the number 2 or higher.

*** Console Players
You can take note of the way the NPC responds to you when you first speak to them. Responses such as "Thanks for finishing my quest" or "It is nice to have you around" will hint that this NPC now trusts you. An example would be after returning the Golden Claw to the Riverwood Trader, both NPC's inside continue to thank you for returning the claw to them.


*** NOTE: The NPC must be killable for this to work. This does not work with essential NPC's that hunch over when attacked but cannot be killed.

i think narfi is an excellent choice, give him a gold piece and find his sister's remains, then do this when the dark brotherhood sends you after him.
