Excellent models! WKBW radio in Buffalo re-created the broadcast in the late 1960's as a halloween radio drama with local voices and locales. Check out the cd if you can find it.Martians gassed the city at the end...

@MrMosinNagant At first people believed that it was real because he timed it so that the radio broadcast that told everybody that it was just a story was aired at the same time as a major baseball game so nobody heard it and some panicked then more people as the first lot told them what they had heard. Some say he planned it that way as a social experiment .

People thought it was real, it was after all 1938, If you listen to the broadcast in its entirity, you hear after each break tha it is a Play, unfortunately many people only heard spots of the show. Also if you lived in or around the area they speak about (imagine the noise!) you would quickly notice, NO SPACSHIPS, NO TRIPODS etc. It was a great hoax, in fact many people did not believe that Pearl harbor was real, remembering this night (also it was broadcast on Halloween!!)
