Short video of me doing a modified barrel roll in cruise formation. At about 400 knots lead pulls straight up to 40degrees or so, then rolls into me and all the way around and comes back on down. Thanks to Scott for being the camera man!

  • no way this was done by a student. it was probably an instructor demo, because every student i've seen got spit out after the first 90. its soo counterintuitive to add that much power when you don't actually think you need it.. and then.. its too late.. out you go.

  • Thank you for the compliment, but I was most definitely a student at the time. However, this was the cruise form solo, so this was probably the 10th I'd done this maneuver.

  • hey after flight school what did you end up getting to fly? im curious to know

  • Sweet stuff! I work at Nas Krock. Just selected pilot for navy officer program

  • Not hard to believe that's a student. The first time or two I got spit out, but after that it's not hard to stay in there, just begin with and maintain a nice tight cruise position, keep stepdown, and fly formation all the way around. Not rocket science.

  • Might be me in about 3-4 years. Just found out I was pro-reced SNA.
