  • Wow, what an interesting dialogue about /z/. I know that spelling things out when you are misunderstood is a good strategy. This video is to help you if even spelling it out leads to frustration and misunderstanding. Not trying to push anything on anyone!

  • you should be saying the letter "W" like "Double-you" not "Dubba-yu" thats like a southern accent.

  • @Sebas13579 Dictionaries, until quite recently (when they decided that they would abandon their attempts to advise the public on language, preferring instead simply to record usage), deplored "often" with the 't' pronounced. It should only rhyme with soften.

As for "address," both are acceptable today, but the second syllable has traditionally had the stress. If she were not teaching pronunciation, I should not remarked that it was wrong.

It did not help, but thanks for the thought.

  • @kleg0202

She didn't mispronounce either words. 'Often' can be pronounced with a silent 't' or a voiced one, and as for geographical distribution, I've heard it both ways with about an equal distribution across the States. I pronounce it with the silent 't'. I pronounce 'addresses' as she does though, and I found that to be the more common pronunciation in the States, though I have heard the differently stressed version, 'aDRESSes'. Hope this helps :)

  • Did anyone else notice that she mispronounced both "often" and "address"? Otherwise, this is a good video.

  • when u pronounce the letter ''R'', cant u notice a little a at the beginning?

  • @DragonTamer657 English pronunciation is a matter of protocol according to where one lives and learns to speak English. It seems rather immature to argue about whether the name is 'zee' or 'zed' since the English language is spoken in more than one country. Of course there will be regional differences. Neither one is right or wrong. At any rate, it is rude to toss insults for something so trivial. Isn't the world full of more pressing matters than this?

  • don't call yourself an accent master, if you can't even pronounce the letter z. Try pronouncing it the correct way (zed, not zee)

  • Very helpful. If you redo it, you might add "b" to the first group.

  • pls we need more videos

thanks for the effort you do exert.
