This video was created on August 21st, 2010. The official release date for "Elemental: War of Magic" was SUPPOSED to be August 24th, but it looks like at least one retailer has jumped the gun because, as you will see, I already have a boxed copy in my possession. However, Stardock Entertainment (the developer/publisher) was aware that this might happen (again--it also happened with Demigod), and so they have graciously allowed me to install the game and are preparing to make it immediately available for those that pre-purchased and/or participated in beta-testing. I think this is going to be a fabulous game (I did shell out the money to purchase it, after all), and, time permitting, I think I'll be able to do a review and have it ready sometime in the coming week. Stay tuned!

  • I request gameplay footage!!!

  • @Phrostbyte500 Hopefully, I will be able to grant your request soon, within a day or two after the official release.

The problem I am having now is learning how to play the game; the documentation is woefully inadequate, and there is no tutorial. The game has many design elements in common with Civ4, and as an experienced turn-based-strategy game player, most of the basic are obvious to me; everything else I am learning by trial and error.

  • @dcalpha007 No tutorial? What about the campaign, do the first few missions not teach you how to play the game?

  • @TheDailyMonk No, the campaign does not serve as a tutorial, and in fact, it plays quite differently from the 'sandbox' mode. In the campaign, you don't have to worry about research or logistics or anything like that; you simply follow a series of missions, and along the way you're given what you'll need. You do have to do a bit of city management by making minor improvements and building troops, but frankly, the campaign is extremely bland. I recommend skipping it altogether.

  • this game is horrible, becouse of bugs, bad optimalization etc. i`m really dissapointed :/

  • How does it feel to spend 60 dollars on a beta test?

  • Multiplayer?

  • Only street date braking I find where I’m at is where they release the game on the day after it’s suppose to be out or sometime after the weekend. I was surprised by how fast it came out because I was looking for it later this fall or even next year. Elemental looks fine from your video… Sadly the Gamestop(and all other retailers) here still has promotion boxes for the release for StarCraft; I’m not looking for this game until the weekend.

  • @dcalpha007 As of the update in about 30 minutes the campaign should offer a better tutorial as well as better gameplay through sandbox. What everyone has been playing up until now is a pre-release, Day 0 update is tonight.

  • You lucky dude!
