11/06/08- Today I brought home a Realistic Tape Recorder, a Yorx Record Player Attachment (which runs on 9V DC, so I used a 9V battery!), a General Electric Boombox (Ghettoblaster), a Crown Portable CD Player (from 1987), a Vintage Sony Stereo AM/FM/Phono Receiver, and a Ross Jubilee AM/FM/SW Radio. The CD player still has all of its protective plastic covering over all of the shiny parts. Everything works, the dial light in the Sony is burned out, but the dial light in the Jubilee works. I will post model numbers, etc. soon. I had the Yorx turntable hooked up to the GE Boombox, and the Crown CD Player hooked up to my computer speakers. I got the Sony and the Yorx for $1.00 each. Thanks for watching.

  • Can someone name the first tune? I know the song but not the name.

  • It's called "Java", by Al Hirt.

  • What is the song you start playing on the tape on the second system?

  • It's called 'Slow Hand', by the Pointer Sisters.

It sure does not feel like it!

Charity or not...they should realize they can sell more things if they charge a cheaper price. $5 for a T-Shirt? C'mon now! I was just at the Salvation Army today, and they wanted $130 for a kitchen table that swayed more than a drunken Irishman! ...and $10 for a file cabinet that was 85% rust!

They sure aren't doing any charity to the people that shop in their junky junk stores...

  • @SeberHusky Money grubbing? You realize its a charitable organization, right?

  • My GoodWill store is a bunch of moneygrubbing bastards. They charge ridiculous prices for things that you don't even know if they will break down later on or not.

But, I got a nice Realistic boombox for about $5 though!

  • Nice finds!. You never know what you can find at any thrift stores. Last year i came across a 1987 Pioneer laser disk player for $8.00 at a local Goodwill store. This Pioneer model features a "red diode" laser which reads thru any smudges/scratches on the laser disk with no issues. One of a few models they used the exspensive "red diode" laser. Retail price was $2,200 at its time. Plays like new still.

  • That Yorx turntable is the legendary Space Saver made in the early 1980's! That was one of the only good products they made before they took a turn for the worse.

  • damn, i like that yorx , gimmie, gimmie !

  • One mans' junk is another mans' treasure.

  • I simply refuse to believe that the table is running off a nine volt.

  • @passionateaboutmusic It's called Run, it's by Collective Soul, I liked Collective Soul in the mid 90's, but when Run came out as a songle I stopped caring, I hated that song back then, I still don't like it much now.

  • @Lachlant1984 What is the name of that song? Sounds familiar. Thanks!
