Ganesha's Birthday (Ganesha Chaturthi) -- The 4th Moon

Ganesha is a very important God not only in Hinduism but also in Japan. The worship of Ganesha in japan is also very well known. So He is available abundantly for people to Experience Him on the upcoming 4th moon, which is Ganesha's Birthday. Because the 4th moon comes every month, that's also important for Ganesha but once a year, is the birthday 4th moon, which comes either in August or September and that is the day He is predominantly available. The worship itself is very- very meaningful, profound, scientific, because the astronomical positioning you are able to get His energy very easily on this day and people are thinking about Him all the day.

Ganesha Chaturthi is very-very important because everybody even mystics who are even sometimes radical and have radical positions on several rituals themselves agree that Ganesha is so important because He has a special knowledge to remove obstacles that is the most important thing. So everybody has to go to him in order to remove the obstacles.

Ganesha -- the Karma Bursting Device

The people who are not sophisticated who are like common lay people what they do is just on this day just go and buy from a shop an image of Ganesha, that is made of mud or clay and then the statue is kept in the household for a couple of days and then offer food that he likes, that is special food like chic peas, fried rice and then some special sweets along with some special flowers that are available for him. They are very-very essential to bring His energy into place where you have kept his image. The lay people do these kind of worship and then after that they go and dissolve this in a river or an ocean. The whole idea is Ganesha takes upon himself your Karma. So He is a Karma bursting Device. He takes up on Himself the Karma of people, who are worshipping him. That is the practice that the people do. To me, it is a technology, is a tantric technology, which is quite scientific and we find that very useful and practical.

Breaking Coconuts to Ganesha

There are number of ways through which you can propitiate Ganesha and his Chaturthi that is the 4th moon day. I give priority to the breaking or smashing of coconuts. The coconuts have the special ability of absorbing your karma. And if they are smashed in a particular temple in India, then there is also more profound. A coconut sacrifice is considered, i.e smashing of coconuts is considered sacrifice. It is equivalent to sacrificing all that you have. The sacrifice itself is the only way to have a transformation. Ganesha's smashing coconut is equivalent to that. This will be the most powerful way that you can celebrate this special 4th moon of Ganesha.

GUM -- The Moola Mantra

Ganesha are into the Yogis like an infrared color. Infrared you cannot see, but is a tint of red loris, which is not purely red, but prior to red, that is why it is called infra-red and visualize that and his mantra. The sound through which you can access Him is GUM.
"OM GUM GANAPATAYE NAMAHA"

So as you go on calling Ganapathi with this mantra "GUM", He will respond to you. He comes to you. The only problem is that we don't have the ability to see him because our naked eyes can't see Gods or beings that don't have a body. So every time you say "OM GUM GANAPATAYE NAMAHA" He comes and I want every one of you to get his blessings and also get his wisdom to foresee obstacles before they come that is really the quintessence of the worship of Ganesha.
