I bought this dvd and very glad I did. I video quality could have been a bit better but overall I learned a lot. I have done violin repair for years but never learned to rehair. I have done 3 rehairs so far. Will keep at it and keep improving. Thanks for putting this together at such a reasonable price.

I have to admit that you are totally right. This is not the video I sell , which does not have music in the background. I apologize for the lack of clarity. The full version is very helpful .

Do not do this at home. You can really crack the tongue of the frog or damage the tip. Only trust a french or french-trained bow maker.

Yes , I mention very clearly in the full version not to attempt to try this in an expensive bow , specially if you lose the old wedges . Making the wedges is an art of itself and is the primary cause to crack open the grain. If you have an expensive bow, don't do this at home. Do it only on average or carbon fiber bows. Believe me you save money

Hi
I used to go to Dahl violin in Minneapolis and let Robert to do the rehair for me. I have not been going there for a long time. I think that due to my economical situation he asks only for around $46 US.
Now , the shim on the tip of the bow is very critical. You can ruin the bow if the pressure of the shim pulls the grain of the wood apart. I never owned an expensive bow . Therefore I believe that , to repair a $2000 or more bow it will easily be more expensive.
Be careful !
