The problem is that as the series were initially 'recorded' in Japanese, while some/most things improve, others are lost in translation more by 'redubbing' them back into English, such as Re-l's initial stance towards Vince.
Geographically/culturally Ergo Proxy is a different story alltogether.

This. "For example if you're watching the first episode in Japanese you can hear that the "commercial message" is flawed English (awkward choice of words) dubbed Japanese. In the English version, the flawed English is simply replaced by a proper English one. Also in Japanese you'll miss some of the linguistical references such as the Re-l/Re'A'l/Real2 construction. Iggy's "flamboyant gay" personality as mentioned in an interview doesn't really work in Japanese either,
My favorite anime ending. What the staff of Ergo Proxy did with this somewhat undergorund anime series is really amazing. I expect this kind of quality from some more respected mainsteram anime like Code Geass, but imo Ergo Proxy surpasses it
