Southport Botanic Gardens - Spring 2011
This was shot before the shut down of the Park Gardening Services and Museum.
The gardens are now a disgrace and local councillors should be ashamed with themselves over the closures resulting in one of Southport's oldest public Gardens and only Museum begin affectively closed for tourism. We are supposed to be a tourist town known for our floral displays and beautiful parks.. How are the closures going to boost the tourism the town so desperately needs.

I may make another video showing the rats running round the disgraceful Kings Gardens and show the desolate roundabouts that once teamed with gloryous flower displays..

  • the park looks very clean and tidy and the gardeners do a fantastic job by the looks of this video its ashame about the cut's but i know the gardens are still open all year and are not going to close anytime soon so dont beleive everything you here in the papers or on the internet

  • @stopwatchgardener .. Thanks for te comments. time moves on and my techniques are progressing.. I would welcome any contacts you can provide..

    Where are you.. southport?

Was thinking of the southport flower show but I have no contacts in this area..

  • Dave, what a lovely video and technique - a real 'how did they do that?' effect. You should definitely contact the press people near Amsterdam for Keukenhof Gardens; do you know those gardens? It has more spring flowering bulbs than any public garden in Europe, and they could definitely use a promotional video of this type. I blogged about Keukenhof on Stopwatchgarden last year; if you want I can dig out the press contact I dealt with?

  • very nicely done, it'll be a crying shame to lose such a resource to council cut backs
