Salamander / 沙羅曼蛇 ST1-3 (PSX ver.)

Excellent shooter from Konami. I love how fast paced and intense the game can get. Plays just like the Gradius series except you respawn on the spot when you die and the weapons are just picked up as opposed to being selected from a power-up bar. Graphics and sound are awesome. I love the boss theme and ST3 BGM. Enjoy!

There's actually a PSP port of every Salamander Game out there now. Same with Parodius and Twin BEE. But... it's Jap. Luckily, it's not region Protected. Personally, I love the first stage's music better than stage three actually.

I bought the PSP port too. It has Xexex and Gradius 2 (MSX) on it as well. Great games. Stage 1's theme does indeed own hard.

Lifeforce/Salamander was my was favorite shooter, until I played Darius Gaiden (and that was mainly due to the awesome soundtrack). STILL, I go back to this game, from time to time. One of the true classics.

Technically speaking, this game and its sequel are part of the Gradius series. The two ships in the game are the Vic Viper and the Lord British.

seems faster on the PSX port, also powerups were the same as Gradius on the NES
