I've heard more than one person accuse Scientific Consensus of being a form of Argumentum ad populum! Please know the difference.

Scientific Consensus is built upon a foundation of "logic" and "systematic evidence" rather than dogma (that which is taught in Sunday school) or popular prejudice. The consensus comes NOT from blindly agreeing with those in authority but from having their claims to be thoroughly reviewed and criticised by their peers.

Islam is FORCED upon people in most of the middle eastern countries with no context of what is really happening in the world. It's no wonder why the numbers of extremists are growing are growing.

Carl Jung went to the middle east during the rise of the third reicht and he made the same observations that Sam Harris makes in this chat. I'll try and find the translated writings if I can, they're very telling of the type of behavior that is displayed even today. rought measures and harsh attitude of muslims can be understood as a normal reaction in case if it's the only way for them to defend themselves. So, when the most important thing is to take their words within the context. Imagine yourselfe confronting a fully armed forces of enemy... what is really left to undertake to defend you own kids??? Both sides of the story is what needs to be looked at.
