http://www.blindsonline.com/ skylight shades - You have measured for your skylight shade, you have received your brand new shade, now it is time to put it up. The first thing - you want to make sure that you have the proper tools ready.

You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a screw gun if you have one handy, or, of course, you could always do it the old fashioned way, by hand and a pencil just for marking where certain things are going to go.

Check that all your parts have come, with the parts list, that should be included with the skylight shade, and once you see that you have everything together, the first thing we will start with is mounting the side rails.

  • I found the best prices on skylight shades and skylight covers at blinds online.com.

  • does the shade serves as an insulator? that is, does it reduce the amount of heat passing through the skylight into the room

  • @KUNLELE skylight shades help keep out the cold in winter and heat in summer by adding insulation value to the window when the shade is closed. More detail can be found on our website blindsonline com.

  • i don't have an angled ceiling but i want a skylight

  • With this type of installation on a venting skylight there is no way to remove the screen. If you are considering blinds for VELUX skylights, look for VELUX blinds. They mount to the sash of the skylight and not the drywall opening. This will allow light control without sacrificing ventilation. Also, VELUX blinds are powered by the sun and require no manual operation.

  • paid $500 for a Sears installer to hotch potch a regular blind into 2x4' skylight without side tracks or any adjustments for tension (what a rip off)...after one week we were unable to close the blind past 45 degrees....thank you for this video ...had I seen it 7 years ago I could have saved all the money we spent on a new dining room set, carpet etc. that was damaged by the sun...bottom line ...inform yourselve well before you buy!

  • Thanks a lot for this video!! The video helped us a ton because the blinds and instruction sheet we recieved from Lowes/Windowfashions didn't explain how to mount the Top bracket correctly and your video did. Again thanks very much!!
