Glass candle full of smoke creates plasma in a microwave. No flame was present in the microwave, the candle wick had been extinguished for several minutes.

Maybe the burnt wick, which contains conductive carbon, lit up from the microwaves, causing plasma to occur.

It's probably something in the smoke causing the plasma to form, and not a flame itself.
Carbon maybe? It works with a pencil.
