When Al says "...in your neck of the woods" the local station is suppose to cut in with the local weather. However, the Washington, DC TV station must have not been listening, because they just left up the NBC feed.
Thank god they were not telling a dirty joke or something while this local feed was going on and it getting over the national air waves. Funny blooper anyway and thanks for the post.
@drandall1776 Well that is much better then my local station. We have WESH 2 and they go to local, we have are meteorologist do the forecast, then they play an ad, then they go back to today. I will try and get it on video tomorrow, if you would like to see.
@filmnet Well they do not bother with the microphones because this rarely happens, and it is much easier when they just leave the mic on for those 30 seconds. When they are off air, or during a commercial break their Mic's are always off and usually they are playing music.
@MyVids21 , it is a "technical blooper", in fact a double blooper. Firstly, the local weather should have appeared for those 30 seconds. Secondly (and more importantly) NBC should have the microphone turned off, so just in case the local weather doesn't show, at least there's a somewhat professional air maintained.
I flew Master Control at an NBC station in Texas back in the '80's. When the Net would throw that cue, we would keep the video, but roll a LOCAL weather forecast cart underneath. My guess is somebody at the local just missed the cue to roll. . .
It not really much of a technical blooper. They always leave the audio if the local weather doesnt come up. The only time you can't here the audio is when youre watching outside on the plaza.
Can you upload the open from this today show?

I remember when something like this happened a few years ago.
Katie was talking about something she ate didn't have enough mustard on it or something, it was fucking funny.

They broadcast the Today show here (Australia) in the early morning, before the local morning shows start at 6 AM.
When this first started happening (10 or 15 years ago now) this happened all the time.
We used to hear some pretty outlandish stuff, really funny.

don't blame the school closing graphic for that.
WRC-TV probally decided not to do a cut-in because of a bad snow storm messing with their equipment
