I shot this video in Calcium K-line but colorized it to make it look like fire. The video was shot on the 25th of April 2010 and is one of two videos I took that day. I find that even though the video is short there are so many interactions going on its hard to focus on just one. I shot this with a 70mm Coronado Calcium K-line telescope and b&w ccd camera.

  • I use a program I created myself to convert the video to color but you can do it in photoshop or paintshop pro. You only have to convert the grayscale image to rgb and then adjust the levels or gamma of the different channels. My typical red is .1 part blue, .4 part green, and 1 part red or 1:4:10 or pretty close to that range. I usually shoot at 15 to 30 fps.

  • Amazing video. Tell me please, what technology did you use to convert images from a b&w ccd camera ( which one?) to that wonderful colored frames?

How many frames/sec is shooting your camera ? Thank you very much ! :)
