This is the championship round of the 3rd Annual Windsor Invitational Parliamentary Debate Tournament. Recorded 12/4/10 in the Windsor High School Performing Arts Center (Windsor, CA) and copyrighted by the WHS Debate Team.

Open Division finals featured Santa Rosa FR (Remy Fuentes & Alan Ramey) facing Windsor FJ (Jason Fauss & Jonathan Jeffrey) after both teams earned perfect 4-0 records and top speaker ratings in preliminary competition.

The topic for the final debate was: "The pen is mightier than the sword"

A coin-flip determined Santa Rosa FR would affirm the resolution and Windsor FJ would negate. Each team had 20 minutes to prepare once the topic was announced.

After 40 minutes of debate, Santa Rosa FR prevailed on a 2-1 split decision.

Congrats to both teams on a fine performance!

A complete list of schools competing in the tournament included: Analy HS (Sebastopol), Bentley HS (Lafayette), Bishop O'Dowd HS (Oakland), Livermore HS (Livermore), Maria Carillo HS (Santa Rosa), Santa Rosa HS (Santa Rosa), Sonoma Academy (Santa Rosa), St. Helena HS (St. Helena), Washington HS (San Francisco), Windsor HS (Windsor) and Ygnacio Valley HS (Concord).

  • air screwing my ear drum!!!

  • The neg won the round...

    how did the aff win...?

  • im not impressed

  • Yep, particularly in competitions you get given a motion and 15 - 20 minutes to prepare a 5 - 8 minute speech you need to think quick.

  • @Oliiiverr So they have to prepare the speech there?

  • Only had 20 minutes to prepare they have to make time with it, plus it helps emphasise their points. Quality not quanitity too.

  • Why the hell are they talking so slow?

  • isn't his definition of sword abusive?
