How come there's no mention of "ENGAGE RIDLEY MOTHERFUCKER"?

@chahalele People got so pissed at the password system, as a result the sequel "Metroid 2: Return of Samus" got a battery-backed save system.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He's back to saying cleverly named!

The problem I have with statements like "First game to appeal to older audiences" or "First game to allow back tracking" is that these concepts weren't 'first times'. Anyone who owned a Commodore 64 had games with these elements a few years before the NES was ever released. 'Impossible Mission' is a good example (avoid that game on the NES though because it was nowhere as good as the C64 version IMO).

@AguyinaRPG Well, they were. Name a game (besides Ms. Pacman) that had a female protagonist that cam out before 1990. And was a good game.
There's really no point in constantly referring to her as 'he'. No one will be surprised by the end of it.

This year is also Metroid's 25th aniversary... and does anyone in Nintendo cares?
