This track was our entry into Moby's Remix competition for the song Everytime You Touch Me.
The competition was presented on Moby's Feeling So real Remixes CD and took place on November 18, 1994.
When we recorded this track we had never heard Moby's original version because it had not been released yet. On the Competition CD Moby put about 4 minutes worth of snippets of parts from his personal mix (a bit of piano, a bit of bass, some strings, various percussion parts and samples of the of the vocals by Rozz Morehead and Kochie Banton.)
When we created this remix in the true tradition of my entire recording experience (not Hi-Tech, not even Lo-Tech...but rather NO-Tech Productions...LOL.) I did not have a sampler at the time, I just had my Korg T-3 keyboard and a Tascam-8 Reel-to-reel 8 track recorder. This meant, I could not sample the parts off Moby's remix CD. Instead, I had to create original little loops of the parts on my Korg and sequence them on the Korg's tiny little sequencer (The Korg had a tiny 1" by 4" screen to view all of the sequencing and programming...LOL...but it was a nice sounding little workstation!)
When it came to the vocals I literally flew them in from Moby's CD into the 8-Track recorder by letting the music on the tape roll and then hitting the play button on the CD player at the point the vocals were supposed to start...(LOL) Rozz does the female vocals, Kochie does the spoken exhortations, Michael Carpenter starts off the song and my mom, Eladia, makes a little spoken cameo in the middle of the track. I did the sung male vocals at the end. Michael was my co-producer on the track. Although Jude Sebastian won the competition, we all had a terrific time creating this track.
Moby is an outstanding and prolific writer/producer, and we present this track with all due respect to his work. He owns the copyright to this track and we share this track here as a gift of love without any attempt at financial gain.
This song is yet another prayer for peace love and light for everyone. It is uploaded on Lahiri Mahasaya's birthday. Lahiri Mahasaya is a great enlightened saint from India who made it possible for all sincere seekers of God to have access to the highest path towards enlightenment and Christ Consciousness: Kriya Yoga.
I believe Lahiri Mahasaya blessed this video, because, after a year of no rain in my home town, when I walked outside from my studio after working on this video project I look up to the sky over my house and found a rainbow (???...that is right, a beautiful rainbow...even though there was no rain here today either.) I photographed the rainbow, and you can see it at the end of the video.
Peace, love and light!
