Raymarine st 2000 on minitransat clase zero. The autopilot does not understand waves and is oversteering.

  • The display is broken so I can`t set the gain. Have now a SPX5 which is prima, even when surfing with the assym.spi. in high swells.

  • That Unit has several compensation settings; not just gain; there is also damping and deadband settings.. ie; it should have been able to do a better job with a bit of fiddling (and a working display ;-) )

I'd have been interested in it's performance while actually sailing to wind, rather than motoring with the wind.

  • @PJCelis Nope.. that's their outboard motor you can hear...

  • this is a sailboat running the outboard and is rolling quite a bit

if a powerboat runs an outboard it goes faster and does not roll as much

the automatic tiller is mounted perpendicular to the keel axis AND lateral

were it mounted central or, indeed central and in line with the keel, might it work better?

    what say you, YouTube 'ers'?

  • Makes a lot of noise, no?

  • needs calibrating and then all will be well
