  • Very helpful video! The pre-bonsai pots....are they just the pots they came in from the nursery that you cut down to size? That would make my new hobby much more affordable!

  • @mismessy That is all they are...cut down nursery containers. I think one mistake that I made often early on is putting material in the bonsai containers long before it was ready and expecting it to develop. Now I realize that placing material in a bonsai container is really one of the very last steps in development. Good luck with your trees.

  • hello i have question!do you know what kind of fertilizer they put on bonsai to make small leaves like maple i want them to have small leaves..

  • @Lidz0713 It is not fertilizer that makes leaves small...its pruning. You fertilize to have healthy growing plants...consistent pruning and lots of foliage help create small leaves.

  • Amazing growth after cut back. Do you give them a special feed program ? they really look lush.

  • @09flintstone

I do fertilize regularly but no real special program. It almost sounds counter intuitive but I think what really allows them to fill out so nicely is constant pruning. These trees were cut back to just trunks in May...by the time this video was put together 3 months later I had pruned twice already. Thanks for the comment!!

  • trees look great good video!

  • Am jealous, you got some beautiful collection of plants. I wish you were my neighbor so you could give me some tips about those plants of yours. Where did you get those azalea's? It's ok to buy azaleas at home depot to make for bonsai?

  • can you tell us about root pruning/work process

  • nice man, enjoyed seeing the progress. Why so many though? Did you get them free or super cheap? I got a lot of stuff free and cheap too and my benches look like your lol.

  • @jgeanangel

Look forward to your next update on the progress.
