(1/9) The Warsaw Uprising of 1944 — a heroic and tragic 63-day struggle to liberate World War 2 Warsaw from Nazi/German occupation. Undertaken by the Home Army (Armia Krajowa, AK), the Polish resistance group, at the time Allied troops were breaking through the Normandy defenses and the Red Army was standing at the line of the Vistula River.

Warsaw could have been one of the first European capitals liberated; however, various military and political miscalculations, as well as global politics — played among Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) — turned the dice against it.

nigger come to europe ! and say this shit to my face!

  • Uhm, swords? what the hell? Also, the first days of the Uprising went well, you can find quotes @ Davies' "Uprising '44" about nazi administration in Warsaw being shocked when the fights started. Stopped watching after this bullshit, appreciate the effort, but many lies or mistakes here.

  • The success of the uprising was dependent on the arrival of the Russians . When the communists failed to intervene then tragedy was inevitable. The uprising was undertaken for political rather than military ends. The communists were confident of victory by August 1944. What the communists were hoping for was allied failure . the greater the better. As was clear from the nazi soviet pact they had hoped for a nazi victory in Europe . A policy reluctantly abandoned when Hitler invaded Russia .

  • @tincoffin Here smart ass read about western betrayal on wiki for a start and then you can reply
