Peru Dialogue of Civilization / Northeastern University

This Spanish immersion program will take place in Lima, (the capital of Peru) and Cuzco. The course consists of 4 hours per day of instruction focusing on developing all the four language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading), cultural visits museums, cathedrals, historical places in the city, etc.) and activities.

This trip was also my first time in South America, and it was truly the experience of a lifetime! My Spanish improved exponentially, with the aid of daily Spanish classes and homestay families. The people of Peru are wonderful, and their culture is rich with history, architecture, music, and lots and lots of delicious food! I would never have thought to travel to Peru on my own, but now that I have been, I want to go back and am telling everyone I know they should go there!

This dialogue was my first time in South America, and Peru was absolutely incredible. You learn so much just being there, about the culture, history, and people - and you experience it all firsthand. Monica is the most fun and interesting leader, and anyone who goes on this trip will have a blast!

This dialogue was the first time that I was out of the United States, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I was able to learn a new language with ease with the support and attention that Monica gave us all. I was also able to have a terrific cultural experience that changed my entire perspective. Peru has a beatiful country side, delicious food, and all the people are wonderful. I would re-live this experience in a heart beat if given the oppurtunity.

This Dialogue of Civilizations Program to Peru was an unforgettable life experience in so many ways. I gained valuable perspective into many unique, diverse and rich cultures. i saw the amazing natural and historical sites of Peru. My Spanish language abilities greatly improved through this total immersion program. Perhaps the best part of the dialogue and what made it unique was that active participation in the society such as teaching, staying with host families and learning cultural rituals.

The dialogue to Peru was one of the best experiences I had at northeastern! The people I met, the wonderful cultural rituals that I got to see and participate in, and the amazing sites of Peru changed my life and my outlook of the world!
