I worked at Tasca Lincoln Mercury back in the early 80's...I taught this kid how to drive. He was 10 years old at the time.

such as the giant blowers sticking out of the hoods. To keep them going is like trying to keep a continuously exploding artillery shell in a small metal box. That is also the reason why there is so much speculation as to how much power these things actually have. The time it would take to run an accurate dynamo test would be simply impossible. The reason the cars only go 1/4 mile (actually limited to 1000 ft due to safety regulations) is
because they would simply explode if they kept going. I'll explain. The fuel that they are using is made up of 90 percent nitromethane and 10 percent methanol. The methanol is required to keep the cars from exploding off the line. They are literally using low grade rocket fuel. Eventhough the engines are V-8's you'ed see every day they have some massive upgrades.
