Another clip from the 76 Tivoli concert. A great, great number from Al Grey. The sheer joy he spreads is similar to Maynard. I get a smile every time I view this.. enjoy.

  • Greatness is when a musician doesn't play cliches, but plays his own way. This does Al Grey!!

  • Al Grey. Again, lucky enough to see him and this version of the Basie Band. Big Bands in the '50s and '60s when I was growing up all had brass sections that used "plungers." I love it. Real blue collar jazz. Basie advised him once "don't play every note you know" and that velocity is not everything. Al became a star of that era's Basie Band. God Bless all of them.

  • master of the plunger

  • Amazing I love getting ideas from the pros. Thanks for posting :D

  • 2:03 - 2:07 "wow jazz is such an amazing music!".

  • So smooth but so powerful!
