  • Fuck yeah! Cake!

  • I think it's abominable that they portray Marie Antoinette kneeling at her memorial with Louis XVI. That woman had nothing to apologize for. All the propaganda was slander. Not even true. She was actually instrumental in many beneficial changes in France and the American Revolution. She should be proud of herself, if France can't be proud of her.

I do wish they'd put more of the end with her and involved a little more of the romance with her and Ferson, but I guess the point was to show the transition she made from naive little girl to grown woman and then they cut off. I do agree with the whole France not really warming to her as far as having her as a ruler, but they did like her when she was dauphine and then a little while queen and then it all went to hell. Sorry to babble but don't get to chat history much :)

  • @lostmarbles555 The movie catches one side of her well, definitely. Marie's eye for beauty, elegance, and personable nature. But FRance had a "Don't worry, we'll let you know if we need you / You're not Queen, but Louis is King" attitude toward her. She came to life and really got involved with politics at the end, yes, but doesn't get much credit for it.

Well, to be far, she was human and extremely young when she took the throwne. She wasn't perfect, but you're right she wasn't as wicked as the slander written about her. Compared to other queens I don't think she was that great, but she wasn't horrible. Ironically she became much better closer to the end. At least this is what my own reading has led me to believe. I'm not a historian. I think the movie was a fair portrait of her.

  • where do you get the movie clips from?
