Two views on the theme of air pollution...

Firstly there is Oxford Street which is London's premier shopping street. Despite being restricted to buses and taxis only in the early 1990's a survey found that these vehicles' diesel exhaust fumes made it to be one of Britains' most polluted environments.

The second part of the video clip makes a comparison with the premier shopping street in Geneva, Switzerland, where they (mostly) use trams and trolleybuses - so the air is much cleaner.

  • Please edit this video it include the manufacturing and disposal of lead-acid batteries. Which trams do not require, and trolleybuses only need them for limited off wire manouvres.

  • Management blames traffic, but the real problem is with the occasional lazy line manager and driver who doesn't care. I'm sure you've heard of their Transit City project, and I hope they don't screw that again.

  • I found London's air to be clean, at least much cleaner than Hong Kong's air.

Two of the streetcar routes through downtown Toronto pass through the skyscraper district, and the service is very erratic. They say there's a car every six minutes but there's so much bunching some people wait for 30 minutes. Some have suggested converting King and Queen Streets into a streetcar mall, but they're missing the point.
