The FakeTV (http://www.faketv.com) simulates the seemingly random patterns displayed on a television, keeping would be prowlers at bay, while saving electricity.

Although the home invasion robbers would be disappointed to find you AREN'T home and just steal this, along with everything else.

The first thing that comes to mind is that it's used to make people think you're home when you're not. sort of like leaving a light on a timer.

It says "keeping prowlers at bay"

You turn it on while you are on vacation so someone thinks you're home. The glow it emits looks like an illuminated television screen. It switches patterns to simulate color changes in the screen (to emulate the ever changing images on a TV screen).

Also, it saves more energy than simply running a TV while you are away. It's more cost effective.
