I would say that an atheist who believes in evolution would do themselves injustice by saying that what they believe is "truth". They should really saying that evolution is the best explanation they can come up with, that seems to be backed with evidence. Its that evidence that an atheist just assumes true, as with any premise(from "I have a right to.." to "Its ok to do.."). The explanation is based on physical and reasoned reality. Its the bibles truth thats really questioned.
Dawson, like so many critics, simply does not get it, - and interestingly, presuppositionalism can account for this. As for the logic comments, the point is that the atheist cannot account for logic to begin with. Yes, you can describe it, you can't account for it. The best you can do, apart from any claimed standard, is give a subjective description of what you believe something is and the best "evidence" you can provide is based in a weak observation which again, is only interpreted from you
If every starting point was valid, we would spiral into ever increasing absurdity. We could, for example just be inside some alien computer simulation.
You stumble before the first minute. You use logic in both examples of a "starting point" They are different because you can use logic to disprove the bible, but you can't use logic to disprove logic.
That guys "starting point" is observation. Think: How does he even know that the Bible exists? He uses sense experience. How does he even attempt to conclude that it is true? He uses his mental faculties, and your mental faculties require original input from your physical sense, if he trusts his mental faculties to say his understanding of the Bible is true, then he is explicitly trusting his physical senses. Thats this guys foundation. Sense experience. Thats everybody's foundation. Observation
Every worldview pushed to its end has a fundamental basic presupposition that is always assumed - if it were proven by another means then it isn't the basic presupposition. Every worldview in the end is circular, the question is which 'circle' provides an account for reality, logic, science, morality, etc.
So what? You claim it to be a problem that we have no concrete definition of good/bad without the bible, but why do you assume that having no concrete definition is a problem?

The christian circular, insular world view that you hold is untenable. How can you live your life without Science, unless you are the Amish?
Do you deny yourself access to the medical treatment that you say cannot be true as it is based on Science, not the Bible?
