  • The end: The irony, his name is Verne Troyer, better known as "mini me". So,...I had to share with you my story about kitty, and also..it could perhaps help you and others realize what I saw in Verne. That endurance to overcome physical limitations or obstacles in life.

Thanks for that story, it brings tears to my eyes.

Rats are such special creatures that it is difficult to give up on them when the times are tough.

You should be commended for your persistence and willingness to sacrifice for your special rat baby.

I think you tube lost the part two of the story but it was still lovely.

It would be great if you could repost the missing part.

Thanks for caring enough to share your story with us.

You are a special person for loving rats.

  • Sad, but beautiful :*)

  • I Love rats i currently have 3 and have had many more i made a jaws movie too with one of my rats its in your video response

  • I had always admired how given her conditions...her will and strength for living kept her going, and when I feel tough times...I am lifted and realize that mine are nothing in comparison. The irony, was that I saw the same strength in overcoming physical obstacles, and this is what later led to me being awestruck, admiring and falling in love with my, now, ex husband.

  • part 6: but her suffering was so awful. I took her to a very caring vet that had gone through the three prior surgeries...and he injected her while she also fell asleep in my arms and passed away. I had her cremated (sp?) by herself and the ashes put in a small vessel that I keep with me to remind me of the strength she possessed for life.

  • part five...(sorry!)There were so many layers of gauze that all she could really do is lay there and be comforted by me holding her and petting her. Finally, I felt she had given up and the pain was too great. I had not really believed in euthanizing/killing animals...

  • part four: she still showed strength to live, and would haul a tumor twice the size of her head that titled her neck and come running to me when i came home, also wishing to be held and comforted. The day finally came, where that spark was no longer there in her eyes, and she was tired.

  • Part three: so every other day, I would wrap another have to cut throught the guaze...or else it would be to constricting for her to breathe...the tumor would grow so fast and the wrapping too tight. the gauze actually would grow into the tumor, so i would have to cut through, wash it as best as i could, and apply another layer. Despite her pain, and the complaints of my two roomates on how "bad the cancer smelled, and that i 'do something/aka have her put down'",

  • I also had a rat that was "rescued" back in Michigan when I worked with Animal Rights groups and some of the undergroung groups that rescued animals from testing labs. I found homes for all the bunnies and gineau pigs (sp?), but never found a home for the rat. So, she became my beloved friend for over 3 1/2 years.
