A glass of wine,Freni/Pavarotti,and all this unbridled emotion, and I am in tears.Very undignified for a man of my age?
Ah,Mr.Puccini is a real heart string tugger, and doesn't he do it rather well?

all friends left and only Rudolf and Mimi here.
Mimi said: are they all gone? I was just pretend sleeping, because i want to be alone with you.
I have so many things to tell you. Or only one thing: the thing as deep as ocean....
You are all my love and life!
....

I often find Mimi a difficult character to like, but M. Freni gives a charm she doesn't otherwise have, and it makes all the difference.
I think their 1972 recording of this with Von Karajan is the first, but still best, I've ever heard it done.
