We invite you to join us in supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association and help raise awareness of the muscular dystrophy diseases that continue to plague our communities.

The muscular dystrophies (MD) are a group of more than 43 genetic diseases characterized by progressive genetic weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) works to combat these diseases through programs of research, community services and education.

Joseph Penrod, a 6 year old boy from Commerce Twp, MI was diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy in Feb 2008. His parents were shocked to learn that Muscular Dystrophy is in fact a death sentence...there is NO CURE. Since then his family has worked to fund research through the MDA and also raise awareness of the disease.

This disease affects each and every community. Many kids that are diagnosed end up in a wheelchair throughout their teenage years and do not live to see their 18th birthday.
