The Aerostar jet cruises at 340 knots at 85 percent power, climbs at 5,000 feet per minute at 160 knots and burns 80 gallons per hour. The standard piston-engine driven Aerostar carries 210 gallons with auxiliary fuel aboard, which would give the jet an endurance (with required reserves) of about two hours and a range near 780 miles. But the jet may be capable of carrying more fuel. This aircraft made its public debut at AirVenture Oshkosh 2011.

  • From far away I thought that it was an ME262!

  • Those engines look like FOD magnets.

  • FOD is always a possibility, but look at the 737 and how Boeing made it work. The Aerostar crowd is pretty savvy, and I think they'll figure this one out. I like this design because it's the next logical step, bypassing the smaller turboprops because none can really make this kind of performance jump. Bravo to the Aerostar Aviaton staff and crew!!!!

  • like this prety cool

  • This new second life for the original Ted Smith AeroStar my dear sir, Kicks Ass! What an elegant aircraft!.... and now going faster and higher will finally put it up in the league it deserves. Congratulations!

  • This is one of the finest twin engine GA aircraft ever built. This aircraft design was ahead of its time, over-built by the designer knowing full well the design would out live him and would still be around to be re-engined with fan jets as above. I hope they can get it back into production someday.

  • Very nice...The super 700 is also a great Airplane...But this one tops everything :) !!

  • thats a sweet looking jet right there

  • Probably more than I need to get from Gainesville to Lakeland

  • I've always like these, even if I don't think they're the best looking. The big windows, the mid-mounted wing, the well known overall strength ... now with extra everything! I hope they're still in business by the time I can afford one!
