Roscoe Gordon - No More Doggin'

Great rhythm and blues record. Gordon was more famous for writing songs for other people and enjoyed some moderate success for himself as a singer. Here he is performing his own '"No More Doggin'"...

There are a lot of songs that influenced the birth of ska, rocksteady & reggae. This song is obviously one of them. I could cite my top five:

Fats Domino - Be My Guest
Roscoe Gordon - No More Doggin
Billy Stewart Billy's Heartache
Chris Kenner - Sick & Tired
Dave Bartholomew - The Monkey

Everybody knows this song isn't ska, but the guitar shuffle sounds like that.

Thanks for posting!!!

Guys are giving this guy credit for inventing reggae? This isn't ska and it ain't reggea, it's on beat not off beat, but I see the connection, however, he isn't even the first to do a beat like this, no way , no how, Blind Wille Mctell did it long before, as did Robert Johnson.

you should take into account and offset your DC power with an appropriate converter as European equipment will reproduce recordings at an inaccurate speed due to the slight voltage difference.
