I was trying to figure out who SYL was, and when I found that version. I stopped listening to it after 10 seconds. nearly laughed out loud at how bad it was. I hate metal and the close minded people it seems to breed. "metal" is a complete regression in music, it's not tough, or brutal, but you're probably too stupid, and dumbed down by shitty fucking music to understand why.

I think we've just tripped over a generation-gap: There is no way SYL can even hold a CANDLE to this version! This is THE version. I'm actually quite fond of SYL. It's just that NOBODY effing beats Cop Shoot Cop, nobody, nohow, end of story. And nothing beats this goddamn song for the rollicking queasy whiskey-soaked-gravel thumping menace.

And, as soon as Tod and I get to the same circle of Hell so we can live together, he is going to have my babies, lots & lots of little genius babies. Amen.

I love the SYL version of this, it has long been one of my favorite songs of theirs. This is my first time listening to the original and there isn't a whole lot of difference between the two. I'd say this version is a little... dirtier? grittier? A little less clean. Both are great versions but I have to give these guys credit for writing such a killer song.

@jrstreets search "metal guitar" I guaran-fucking-tee you will find 10,000 videos of people shredding up and down the neck, doing all the same shit, and that's the kind of people. what does that mean that these guys can do everything on their instrument? it's full of stupid growling, over harmonizing, sweeping arpeggiating bullshit that doesn't last 10 seconds to my ears. I enjoy metal, I really do, but it's few and far between when anything actually strikes me as refreshing these days. p.s. \m/
