  • Thank you for posting this. I found out that my daughter has SPD just recently. She is 3.5 years old and seeking OT and treatment. I always thought something is off ... why she is so fearless and not registering pain and danger by age 3. And super hyper.

And totally identify with you about the not putting on the coat or socks or shoes when it is freezing out. She can never sit still to eat a meal.

We put her also in speech therapy, and have a child therapist look at her, etc.

  • thank you for this video! so informative! My son has SPD as well and it seems like no in our family understands it and also thinks he will outgrow it. love this!

  • My opinion is that 5:00 is the most vital piece of advice. Who will listen? Try on OT. Thanks!

  • oh and to feel isolated , i know all about it, the meltdowns /tantrums, wow i go through this everyday, you so discribe my and my sons life, i have so much hope that things will be better and easier, and my son is recieving OT but still has not been diagnosed

  • I am so glad that you did this video, i have known for almost 7 years that there is something not right with my son, i have heard it all boys are stubborn. he needs a spanking etc, and yes my husband and i split up. i have been through this all, i am still on the road to finding a diagnoses,

  • Wow good job ladies A++, I agree with what you said about the importance of occupational therapy. After a very long, journey of searching for someone with training in sensory issues. At age 20 I was finally diagnosed with moderate to severe SPD.After going to OT sessions my life has been so different-In a very positive way. It is so hard to find people in the medical field who are trained in SPD.

  • Thank you. My 4 year old was just diagnosed. Your video is making me cry (in a good way)!

  • Great video, definitely helps people to understand SPD a little more!
