They can be born with anything from no tail, part tail or full tail. You can also have a mixture of tails in a litter. Those born with tails are often docked if docking is permitted in the country of birth. The bobtail is a resessive gene so at least one of the parents must be a bobtail in order to get bobtails in a litter. A natural bobtail is any dog born without a full tail.

Australian Shepherds are not born with no tail, they are docked off when they are only days old.

Yes, he has calmed down but always ready to be a puppy the minute you bring out a toy. He is now 3.
