I also hope you realize there's a lift called the romanian deadlift, where you actually stop the weight... but it's an assistance exercise used to focus on the hamstrings, a DIFFERENT exercise from the traditional deadlift..
... you've obviously never lifted with anyone strong nor been to a powerlifting meet if you really think letting the weight hit the ground is bad for your back
That's really bad deadlifting... when the weight hits the floor your back takes damage when you toss it to the floor. 2nd'ly, you need to keep tension between sets.

You are right.. i Deadlift 90 Kg's, concentrated. i stop the weight just before it hits the floor and keeps my tension to gain more strength
