CalMac ferry in rough seas

I recently went on a ferry trip from Oban to Lochboisdale & Barra aboard CalMac's MV Clansman. It was a quite rough voyage due to very strong Southerly-West winds. This is me videotaping the vessel hitting waves head-on around 20 mins after it left Lochboisdale for Barra. Near to the end of the video, the ferry hit 2 huge waves in quick succession which caused the vessel to pitch heavily and go over the waves quite high. I was perching on top of a seat when this happened, and at this point I realised the ferry was about to come down quite heavily so I had to quickly sit down! Big respect to CalMac crew who often has to work in these weather conditions!

That big wave caught me off guard. I was perching atop of a seat & when I realised the ferry was about to pitch heavily, I had to sit down quickly or risk injuring my spine!

I love her - she's a fab seaboat who loves a good old fight with the waves! I'm already planning a trip on her next winter, hopefully when the weather in the Minch is at its worst!

I love travelling in weathr like that, it'slike being on a giant roller coater, evern better from one of the high stools in the wheel house..now that is fun!!

you need to get a grip mate "no where near rough" what have you been on a tanker? if you compare the size of the Clansman with a 8-9 gale its very rough.
