When it says to download a BSD Subsystem, can you download Cydia? Will this whole tutorial still work, or does it have to be a specific BSD Subsystem?

no this vid is for have version 1.1.3 jailbroken but you have to be in 1.1.2 jailbroken to do that

wow. Pretty awesome. Im still not sure about risking downgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1. Then isnt it even riskier jailbreaking 1.1.2 - but 1.1.3!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes u can use installer.
I really recomend doing this if you want to, works a charm. But it you wont to be able to install everything from the installer then i would recomend staying on 1.1.2, as all of the apps from installer down work on 1.1.3 yet. But will soon

No. There is no way currently to jailbreak 1.1.3 and keep your apps. Inlcuding summerboard/customize. These apps will be upgraded soon so they work on 1.1.3
