Those who offer enlightenment or salvation appear to often operate more as businessmen than as authentic spiritual teachers. In part one of this two-part series, U. G. Krishnamurti he denies any possibility of knowledge of enlightenment. The very attempt to achieve enlightenment is an obstacle in the path of the proclaimed goal. The search for enlightenment is a device of the mind to perpetuate itself, in denial of its mortality.

In part two of the full DVD, he critiques various disciplines, both mystical and psychotherapeutic, which are said to lead to states of enlightenment. He proposes that states of enlightenment, if they are to be attained, must be gained in spite of--not because of--meditation, devotion, prayer, acceptance, forgiveness, or compassion. Stripped of all our pretenses, facing the despair of the human condition, freed of the imaginary diseases from which "enlightenment" may save us, we can build realistic and practical lives.
U. G. Krishnamurti was a world traveler and author of Mind Is a Myth and The Mystique of Enlightenment. Viewed by many as a liberated individual, he eschewed all gurus, teachings and followers.

  • I think it's a little arrogant of him to proclaim there is no such thing as enlightenment just because HE never found it. "I never found enlightenment" would have been closer to the truth. I was a knuckle dragging, testicle scratching macho before I took LSD and similar drugs, which revealed to me altered states and ancient wisdom that just poured into my head from the ether. I realised I couldn't take chemicals forever, so I tried meditation and attained the same states.

  • UG is in fact telling the brutal truth. But his message is not suitabe for those seeking peace and happiness. The way to peace and happiness is to end inner conflict. This is possible through self-inquiry.

  • Yes, U.G. you are in TRANSCENDENCE......

  • I think we're just playing the human game for most of the time. When you approach enlightenment from this angle, you could say that the motivation ruins the project. Because I feel this great feeling or what ever you want to call it, is not about trying. You get anxious about not getting this feeling, and if you are lucky you give up.

By truly giving up on myself even for a moment, I noticed that the worry was gone and life seemed to justify itself. You are living stardust! Isn't that enough?

  • Self is NOT invented by thought, but the self is ATTACHED to manas rupa, to thought. That is totally different.

  • Therefore: Let go of what you are NOT.

  • You can ONLY be conscious, of what you are NOT, because all awareness is always directed from the one who is aware to that which he is aware of. So there is NO self counciousness, but only NON Self consciousness. Buddha called it ANATTA - NOT THE SELF.

  • Enlightenment comes when your Kundalini rises and touches the innner of your brain and literally ENLIGHTENS you. That opens the door to your immortal Self. The best way to achieve that is, to be CELIBATE and to meditate. THEN you will attain IMMORTAL AWARENESS, even when your body dies , you will be FULLY AWARE in attaining new body, be it on earth. or in heaven . OM.

  • In other words: We give meaning to something that may or may not exist.

Dope :3 I like the idea of being 'limited edition' and 'rare'. Kinda glorifying my ego, in a strange way ;o

    DAMN! >.>
