One of the best songs - Always reminds me of a xmas service on tv during which a mad man stumbled up the isle and onto the altar pontificating all the way. The priest threw up his hands and said "Well, it is New York"... But I thought "There but for fortune go I." Of course he was removed forthwith.....

There but for fortune was very popular in the UK in the seventies and eighties.. It still a classic today… it's a lovely song to keep special..

@ichingiching I kinda thought if the Christ had been up on the altar instead of the priest he would have at the very least offered the mad man a seat. That's organized religion for you with their multimillion dollar churches .....

What a beautiful rendition of this song. I can tell that you miss him as much as me. Phil Ochs just was........such a loving person to have such a tragic death.....wishing I could have known him for real and asked him personally to stay around just a little bit longer. Thanks so much for this gift today.
