In Memory Of The Assyrian Legend, Dr. Hirmis Aboona

ولد في ألقوش شمال العراق عام 1940 لأبوين فاضلين هما موسى أبونا و مريم اسمرو .
ـ درس الأبتدائية في ألقوش . ثم انتقل إلى يغداد في عام 1952 حيث أكمل دراسته الأعدادية و الثانوية والجامعية . فتخرج من جامعة بغداد قسم الحقوق في عام 1963 .
ـ عمل في عدد من الشركات و المؤسسات . و تزوج من السيدة الفاضلة نني عيسى رشو في عام 1967 وكرّمه الله بثلاثة أولادٍ .
ـ في عام 1982 غادر مع عائلته إلى انكلترا لمواصلة دراسته العليا . فتخرج بدرجة الدكتوراة من جامعة إكْستر بلندن ، و كان موضوع اطروحته { القبائل الآشورية المستقلة في تيارى و هكاري و علاقتهم بالأكراد والأتراك } .
ـ في عام 1988 غادر إلى انكلترا ليستقر نهائياً مع عائلته في كندا / مقاطعة تورنتو / .
ـ رغم اصابته بسلسلة من الانتكاسات الصحية ، إلا أنه واصل كتابة تاريخ شعبنا الآشوري و أنتج ما مجموعه إثنا عشرَ مجلداً تغطي الفترة الزمنية الممتدة ما بين سقوط نينوى و حتى يومنا هذا . طُبِعَ البعض منها و البقية تنتظر الطباعة .
ـ قدّم المئات من المحاضرات في العديد من الجامعات العالمية و المعاهد و المنظمات و التي وضّحَ فيها تاريخ الشعب الآشوري و ما تعرّض له من مآسي و لا سيما في القرون الأخيرة .

Uncle Hermis,

I will live with the regret of not seeing you in your final moments forever, I will never forgive myself for missing your funeral, and my heart will always have a void that only you can fill. Alongside my guilt and tears will be my reminiscence of the times we shared and the things that you've accomplished. You not only moved mountains with your words, but also the hearts of many. Your intellect, brilliance, work, and findings will be eternally appreciated.
