Jeff Hartwig (silver medalist) clears 5.60 (18'-4 1/4") on his first attempt at the 2008 Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR. He went on to clear 5.70 on his third attempt to make the Olympic Team. He qualified for his second Olympic Team at these trials. His first Olympic qualification was 12 years earlier for the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.

It was warm and sunny, however the winds were very unpredictable pretty much during the entire competition.
