  • Might as well enjoy it now, Penn State is screwed for years to come. Reading the Grand Jury report, one thing to say.

    C'MON MAN!!

  • new largest stadium

and 3rd largest stadium in the world

  • oh of course! Gosh, if anyone even said God Damn in public before the 60's would have been scorned greatly!

  • I believe that tradition was started back in the 70s or so, before that, students sang along to the old Alma Mater, so in a way, it has gone full circle. ^_^ The only difference is that it was "As we stood at boyhood's gate" and "Thou didst mold us into men" at the time. Other than those small changes, you could say that Penn State has returned in some ways to how it was up through at least the 1950s or even the 1960s. School spirit being "cool" is part of why I want to go to Penn State. ^_^

  • I was in the student section the first time they had a scoreboard that could display the lyrics and will never forget someone near me proclaiming "Hey, now we know the goddamned words!" I haven't heard the other version since.

  • as a rising freshman, i cannot wait to sing this and then lose my freakin mind at every football game!

  • I went to Penn State from 1989 and I wonder "we don't know the god damned words" is still singing.

  • I proud of the modern PSU students embracing the tradition and pride in the alma mater. back when I was at PSU, it was the free-wheelin', party times of the late 60's and 70's, and doing things like singin' the alma mater were deemed corny and selling out to the "establishment." Hence the "we don't know the goddamned words" nonsense. We were wrong, just being superior and cynical. It does my heart good to hear the students sing like this. Now that I'm older and hopefully wiser, I'm proud of PSU

  • Have you listened to the lyrics? They're amazing. Thank God us students finally sing them. The old "we don't know the God damned words" was lame. How does that show pride for your University. Did those students ever listen to the lyrics? "may no act of ours bring shame"? We finally grew up! And we still retain the spirit.

  • You seem pretty angry. I hope you feel better soon.
