This video combines 4 of my other videos into one. This has me performing 1 clean at 215 lbs, 1 at 225 lbs, and 3 at 235 lbs. The first two at 235 lbs were failed attempts.

I have noticed that I tend to jump backwards a lot. Any advice on that or anything else?

  • focus on standing fully and allowing the hips to open, this will help you from jumping backwards.....also work on the full squat clean as with oly lifting...this will allow more weight to be pulled and finished into the rack position because of the less range of motion

Thanks for the advice. As far as the full clean and Olympic lifts, I'm more just focusing on strength and power right now. Actually, two weeks ago I started "Starting Strength" to see how much strength I can gain quickly and get back to my high school football level strength. Once I get a good strength foundation, I'll transition to more variety such as Meta-con style, body-weight (rings, hspu, etc), and technical Olympic-type lifting.

  • Ha, thanks. I just built it this weekend. Since my technique is pretty bad, I wasn't expecting to see any compliments.

  • bodyweight....also, one more thing i noticed on your clean is that you do not bang it off your midthighs at all....if you do that your going to generate alot more momentum out of it, its a little weird the first couple times and its hard to coach via youtube but you need to do it because your going to hit a wall if you havent already...check out jon north, he was at our seminar, awesome clean and jerk technique

  • ya starting strength is a great foundation to build upon.. My only critique of RIppetoe though is that his programing is more geared towards powerlifters and the squat...After I sat through a olympic lifting seminar with Glenn Pendalay, proper technique is paramount! As far as the metcons go, i would seriously take a look at crossfit invictus, thier metcons are short and sweet with a period of rest inbetween each movement...which is great for us hard gainers because it allows us the maintain

  • looks good! just add some foot stomps and minus the arm pull and you'll have it down!

  • BA view from your oly platform!
